Before-After Photo Contest in Dentistry 2009

Official Rules & Regulations

The Organizing Committee offers 3 awards for Best Photos of Clinical, Research and Community settings categories and 1 award for Favorite Photo. Award categories are. A prize and a plaque will be awarded to the winner of each category. A minimum of 3 contestants is required for the contest in each category.

Important Dates:

  • Deadline photo submission August 14, 2009
  • Deadline contestant registration - August 14, 2009

Please note: The KPPIKG 2009 "Before-After" Photo Contest in Dentistry is open to all contestants. Accepted Photo contestants of KPPIKG 2009 should be registered as Speaker (IDR 1.250.000 / USD 150; Student IDR 750.000).

Submission Procedure:

  1. Please enter the contest by completing the Official Entry Form and submitting your original photograph ONLY by e-mail to kppikgphotocontest@kppikg.com. Contestants should complete all data required on the form (see at the end page). The Committee will not accept photographs submitted through post mail.
  2. All digital photo files must be sent as a JPEG or .jpg-file, with size of 13 cm x18 cm, 300 dpi; between 500 Kb - 4 Mb. Please send one email per entry to avoid transmission problems. A reply email confirming receipt will be sent immediately.
  3. The Committee will evaluate the material submitted and acceptance notification will be send by email on August 1st, 2009 and the decision of the Committee is final.
  4. Accepted photos should be prepared by mounting the photographs on a black mat poster with size of 90cm (width) x 60cm (height). A maximum of 100 words in English should explain the photos including where and when they were taken. The presentation should follow the illustration below:

Note: The photographs may be either in colour or black and white. Retouching will only be allowed for cropping and inserting. Digital manipulated photographs are prohibited. Only original photographs that have not been previously published or not subjected to any previous form of judging processwill be accepted as valid entries. Submitted photos should describe the changing condition of an object before and after being treated, or conditions which occur naturally without any intervention, but still relates to dentistry.

  1. Your photo poster should be displayed on a photo panel according to the photo contest registration number at the Lower Lobby Function Hall Poster Area no later than 10.00 AM on October 14th, 2009 and will be displayed through 12.00 PM on Saturday October 17Th , 2009.
  2. The photographs that have not been collected after 2.00 PM will become the property of the committee of KPPIKG 2009.

Copyright
Submitted images remain property of the photographer. The photographer declares he/she has permission of all persons appearing in the image to publish the image. All images must be originals and must belong to the contestant.
The winners shall assign their rights to have their photos published and exhibited to the Indonesian Journal of Dentistry.

Judging
All accepted photos received will be judged based on these criteria:

  1. Topic idea.
  2. Creativity (with esthetic/technical skills in conveying the knowledge or innovation of the photos to public).
  3. Relevant to dentistry.
  4. Quality and composition of photographs.

The Committee with the support of a professional photographer and prominent dentists will conduct the judging. Decision of judges is final and binding in all respects.

Prizes
Four(4) award prizes will be announced in the Closing Ceremony of KPPIKG 2009 on October 17, 2009.
The Awards are:

  1. The best photo for Clinical category.
  2. The best photo for Research category.
  3. The best photo for Community setting category.
  4. The Favorite Photo (judged by all participants of KPPIKG 2009).

Limits of Liability
The KPPIKG2009 Committee is not responsible for photographs lost or damaged during display.
All contestants, by virtue of participation in this event, hereby permit the Committee of KPPIKG2009 to display submitted photographs in reproductions or print or electronic publications, if deems appropriate.
